Abstract:

Medicines for Malaria Venture was founded in 1999 as a Product Development Partnership to stimulate the research and development of innovative antimalarial drugs. As the organisation is celebrating its 25 anniversary this year, the organisation has reviewed its strategy and focus.

In my talk I will discuss the MMV’s partnership model, highlight its successes of the past years and introduce the new direction and research strategy for prevention, treatment and elimination of malaria. Emphasise will be given to novel approaches in pharmacometrics and in vitro and in vivo experiments to de-risk novel compounds for the use in babies and pregnant women.
